Monique Harden
Monique Harden provides legal counsel and advocacy support to organized communities, and has contributed to important environmental justice victories that have protected people from the damaging health and environmental burdens of industrial pollution. Ms. Harden is the co-director of Advocates for Environmental Human Rights (“AEHR”), a nonprofit, public interest law firm in New Orleans, Louisiana, that she co-founded with attorney Nathalie Walker in 2002. AEHR provides innovative human rights litigation and a broad range of public advocacy to defend the human right to a healthy environment. Since Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Harden has been advocating for the human rights of displaced Gulf Coast residents, which include the right to return to healthy and safe neighborhoods.
